About The Symphony Guild

The Symphony Guild is dedicated to enriching the quality of children’s lives in the Northwest and primarily raises funds through an annual benefit concert, composed by Mateo Messina, with proceeds benefiting uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The Symphony Guild (formerly the Sapristi Guild) was formed in 1997. The funds raised each year places the Symphony Guild on the “Top 25 Fundraising Guilds” list at the hospital. How it all began… Many years ago, a friend of Mateo Messina called him into his office and told him about Seattle Children’s Hospital. He said that they made the last year of his daughter’s life wonderful. After she passed away from brain cancer, he told Mateo to check out the playroom and possibly volunteer by playing the piano. One week later Mateo started playing piano for the kids and staff in the playroom. Later that year he produced his first Children’s Hospital benefit concert: Human. Ten years later Mateo still plays regularly for the kids at the hospital and produces an extraordinary concert to benefit Seattle Children’s and the entertainment of his fans. Although Mateo’s music career has taken him to Hollywood California, he continues to play for the children during his monthly visits to his hometown of Seattle. Mateo’s studio, Kind Studios, provides music for film, television, gaming and multimedia. Mateo Messina, Founder/Chair Sarah Gibbons, Vice Chair – sarah@thesymphonyguild.org

UC Fund

This year alone, Seattle Children’s anticipates the need for uncompensated care to reach over $100 million. With the support of the Symphony Guild and a generous community, the hospital is able to continue its mission of providing quality care to all children, regardless of their ability to pay.
